Nonviolent Peaceforce in action: an overview
Taking steps towards large scale civilian intervention
An overview of Nonviolent Peaceforce global structure and its civilian peacekeeping projects in Sri Lanka, Philippines and Guatemala as they have developed till September 2007.
The dossier will start by briefly introducing Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) and illustrate its main characteristics as International NGO with a world-wide membership aiming at civilian peacekeeping development. Subsequently the report will proceed by reviewing the three major deployment projects of NP in areas of conflicts : Sri Lanka, Philippines and Guatemala. The analysis will be developed by defining for each project a brief background on the nation and its conflict, the reasons motivating NP to intervene in the area, the activities undertaken or currently undertook by NP and some examples of positive results achieved by NP with its actions.
